Tours in Ragusa

and chocolate from Modica

With baroque charm, the oldest part of the city, Ragusa Ibla, is home to many university faculties, which is why the city is often lit up by groups of young students at night.

When visiting Ragusa if you wish to enjoy the splendid walks in the small streets of the historic centre and climb the 340 steps, it is highly recommended that you give heels a miss.

Another must-visit destination is Modica which, together with Val di Noto, back in 2002 was included in the list of World Heritage sites by UNESCO for its historic centre, rich in Baroque architecture.

Situated at the heart of the town centre and of great historical significance thanks to its excellent state of preservation, is the necropolis of Quartiriccio, in the Vignazza neighbourhood, featuring dozens of "oven" tombs dug into the rock, and dating back as far as 2200 B.C.

The town is also famous for its chocolate, and in particular for the cold production method that dates back to the time of Spanish rule, which has been passed down from generation to generation, and has made Modica's chocolate internationally famous.
